Our Garden Progress 2011 ...

As soon as we were past our last frost it was time for the garden groundbreaking once again...

Robert installed a gate to make it easier for the meter reader to get to the meter (and easier for me to bring in groceries!)
Robert also put up a shade screen over the entire garden area and path from the gate.   The veggies are going to LOVE it!...

I snaked a soaker hose within the garden and built the rows the same....

Robert tore down the picket fence and the grape arbor that he had built about 6 years ago. They were both rotting. Replaced the fence with wire to train the grape vines to.
(note the white bench on the far side of the pond)

Robert replaced the wood on the bench and painted it....

I planted flowers....

And made a faux claim marker and built a faux campfire next to it. I scattered California poppy seeds all around the edges and inside the old rusty coffee pot...

To make it more realistic I used burnt rocks out of our fire pit...

And I put more rocks to border the rose bushes...
... And the rose bush thanked me..

Robert covered the far post with bamboo. I leaned saguaro skeletons against the other one and made an arrangement of plants and rocks nearby...

And the veggie plants are sprouting...

I think the bee farmers should give us free honey since they are freeloading on all of our hummingbird nectar!...

A baby dove we rescued from the cat and put it in a safe place...

I hope it learned to fly before anything else got it. Haven't seen it since the day after it hid in the century plant.
